EDM challenge: draw a basket

I hardly ever draw with pencil because I am such an impatient scribbler and when I am out and about I get it all over everything—the drawing, my hands, my clothes...A quiet evening at home, I decided to do a pencil drawing of this basket I bought in the the low country of South Carolina filled with rocks I collected in the north country of Maine.

I know what you mean about being "an impatient scribbler". But this drawing is simply lovely. Your shading is exquisite!

Very nice work! I agree with you about the mess graphite makes. That's why I prefer pen & ink.

I also agree re: pencil mess & smudging. But this is wonderful! Is the basket woven of saltgrass?

Very nice! And hang on to that basket! Those sea grass baskets are collectors items that go up in value considerably!

I like your drawing. I don't know the name of the type of weaving that is but I recognize it. It looks great.
